Brda Cherry Festival - in the villages of Brda

Experience the perfect taste and vivid colours of this royal red fruit and all the events that will take you to discovering the land of the cherries! New concept, new experiences!

This time, five villages host a series of events that will connect the whole Brda region! Dobrovo, Medana, Kojsko, Gonjače and Kozana are the venues of this year’s Cherry Festival. Every village has a special charm, story and offers a unique experience. Discover the home of the Brda cherry! From all angles and views! This year, the ethnological highlights of the traditional procession are therefore placed at the very heart of the villages of Brda.

VENUES AND PROGRAMME

On Saturday and Sunday, all locations will host market stands with local products, culinary experiences, cultural and children's activities, an art extempore, workshops with local people, relaxed moments and, of course, lots and lots of cherries.

SATURDAY, 3 June 2023 ••

• KOJSKO • (Rio Kojsko and the Church of the Holy Cross)

- Workshop with the Women of Brda at Kojsko Castle and yoga for children at Rio Sports Park

- Guided tour of the Church of the Holy Cross above Kojsko

- Lavender workshop

- Art extempore and art exhibition

- Wool and paper workshop at Rio Sports Park

- Bowling demonstration at the Rio Sports Park bowling green

- Market with local delicacies, cherries, oil, lavender and culinary offer

• MEDANA • (central square and square in front of the Gradnik homestead)

- 4 Medana caterers offering local Brda food, focusing on seasonal food and dishes with cherries (Vino@Modana, Nejka@Uroš Klinec, Bužinel, Tavarneta)

- Selected wines from renowned Medana and Brda wineries and local craft beer on tap

- Performance by the music group Plamen and DJ Janko - projection of old pictures of Medana on the big screen, cherry festival, projection of a film about Brda

- Brda market in the narrow village street (cherries, desserts made by local women, honey, olive oil ...)

- Open gallery "ALMA Medana" with guided tours of the exhibition

- In front of the Gradnik Homestead, an exhibition of old everyday utensils; old bicycles, baskets, ladders and everything connected with picking, sorting, transporting and selling cherries, as well as old paintings showing the picking, transporting and selling of cherries

• KOZANA • (village square)

- Wine tasting, cherry market stands, catering, cheese, salami and honey market

- Guided tour of Plečnik's bell tower, exhibition of paintings of Kozana’s past and present

- Sports games for children (goal shooting, painting)
