Drying has always been the simplest and most practical way of preservation. In Brda, farmers still dry all the fruit they produce. Since there has always been a lot of fruit in Brda, preparations for drying have also been necessary. The Brda farmers dried their fruit in the sun, on “piconi” (woven from reeds or hazel vines).
In addition to cherries, apples, apricots and figs, dried khaki is becoming increasingly popular.
