Brda and Wine – enogastronomic event

The Brda and Wine spring event has a long tradition in Brda. While a few years ago it was considered to be primarily a wine event for connoisseurs and wine lovers, in the last few years the festival has taken on new dimensions. It has progressed in both the wine and culinary spheres and has grown into the largest enogastronomic event in Brda. Simply prepared dishes have been replaced by original and sophisticated plates, which go hand in hand with fine Brda wines.

The centre of the action is the picturesque medieval village of Šmartno, in the geographical centre of Brda. The tiny and narrow Šmartno streets showcase the live cuisine of more than 25 local and guest restaurants and more than 30 Brda winemakers. Visitors can taste delicious dishes from chefs and wines from renowned Brda winemakers, and visit a varied market offering local honey, olive oil, dried fruit, teas, cheeses and charcuterie, and other boutique products throughout the day. A rich cultural and entertainment programme ensures that visitors will have an interesting and tasty day of food, wine and great company.

Rebula and Olive Oil Festival

Višnjevik, known as the birthplace of Rebula and as a hospitable village surrounded with numerous olive groves from which excellent olive oil is produced. Each year, the village community Višnjevik and the Society of Rebula Lovers organize the traditional Rebula and Olive Oil Festival. The event enchants with its familiarity and authenticity.

The festival in 2012 was special as they crowned the first Queen of Rebula.

Numerous olive oil samples, vegetable omelettes, fried prosciutto with polenta, excellent wine, delicious bakery masterpieces of local housewives and unforgettable entertainment – all these invite you to spend pleasant spring hours in company of friends.

The unique hike among the olive groves is certainly not to be missed.
