BENEDETIČ WINE CELLAR

The Benedetič farm stands on the brinks of Goriška Brda, in the village of Vipolže, right along the border with the Italian wine growing region of Collio, where the Brda hills are slightly lower. The wine growing and making knowledge has been transferred from generation to generation since 1923, when Valentin Keber and his son in law Andrej Benedetič bought 2 ha of vineyard (Brgalotišče) from count Teuffenbach. The vineyards were named after large stones ("balote"), which laid on the ground. Successive generations have carefully managed the farm and increased the area, to the extent that today the farm has ten hectares of vineyards. Their vineyards are located in 12 different locations, which, while making cultivation somewhat more difficult, brings variety to the wines, as each micro-location has its own advantages. Among the white varieties, special attention is paid to the indigenous Rebula and Sauvignonasses (formerly Tokaj), but of course the world-famous Chardonnay, Sauvignon and Pinot Gris are also on offer. Among the red varieties, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon have been planted.
In addition to wine, we also offer delicious cherries and olive oil. It is a proud new addition to the farm and proof that they are keeping up with the times. On your visit, you can be guided through the new wine cellar, where you will feel a piece of the family's effort and love for creating the noble drop. In the modern tasting room, you can relax while tasting wines overlooking the idyllic hills of Brda.
