Parish Church of St Florian, Fojana
The people of Fojana dedicated their first church, first described in 1570, to St. Florian, and built the Church of the Holy Spirit, now the cemetery church, outside the settlement. Church of St. Florian stands in the middle of the village on a platform on a hill and is surrounded by imposing walls. It is a single-nave church with the main altar dating back to 1800.
Church of St. Florian was rebuilt in 1803 by Jurij Simoniti, a chaplain of Friulian origin, after his arrival as a pastor in Fojana. The rebuilding of the church was supposedly made possible by gold coins found on the site of the former manor house.
