Parish Church of St. Egidius, Vipolže
Take some time to visit the Church of St. Egidius in Vipolže, which stands on a quite unusual place in Brda. It is not at the top of a hill, nor in the middle of the village, but squeezed in between the houses. The church acquired its present appearance in the Baroque period, although there was already a church on the site in the Middle Ages, as evidenced by the stonework details. The present entrance facade imitates the type of an ancient temple, a characteristic feature of local church architecture in general, which was influenced by the restrained, somewhat classical Italian Baroque. The main marble altar is of the ciborian type with a canopy.
