MUSEUM COLLECTION – ALOJZ GRADNIK AND LUDVIK ZORZUT MEMORIAL HOUSE
Alojz Gradnik, one of the greatest Slovenian poets of the 20th century, was born in Medana on 3 August 1882. His life and work are commemorated in the Alojz Gradnik Memorial House in Medana with a collection of his personal objects, editions of his works and awards he received for his work. The restored homestead has been open to the public since 2002 and its rich heritage is presented in several thematic sections. The life and work of Ludvik Zorzut, the first director of the Gorizia Museum (1951-1953), who was born on 24 August 1892 in the same house as Alojz Gradnik, is also presented here. Domestic life in Brda at the time of birth of both personalities is illustrated by the restored and furnished hearth, surrounded by the featured Zorzut’s poems.
