FLORES MUSICAE, Medieval and Renaissance Music Festival (September)

The Flores Musicae Festival is the only early music festival in the western part of Slovenia and the only festival in Slovenia that focuses exclusively on music of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. In addition to exploring and reviving Slovenia's musical legacy, the festival also brings to life the cultural heritage gems that lie between Nova Gorica and the Goriška Brda.

Since the beginning of 2011, under the name Days of Early Music, almost 50 concerts, 10 lectures and international masterclasses have taken place between Gorizia, the Karst, the Brda, Friuli and Ljubljana, creating new audiences full of interest, reviving many architectural pearls and putting our region on the international map of early music.

From the very beginning, the festival has offered original and rarely heard programmes, far from the so-called mainstream. Every year, it has brought the world's leading specialists to Slovenia, and every time it has given space to younger or already established Slovenian performers. In addition, it has given special weight to music linked to the Slovenian territory, co-producing a new programme of music by the Renaissance composer and lutenist Giacomo Gorzanis, which was released in 2018 on an award-winning CD on the renowned Arcana label (Outhere music).
