Snežeče

Snežeče is a village where a castle stood in the Middle Ages, the remains of which can be seen in the renovated Polenčič House with the coat of arms of the Conti Barons. The Church of Our Lady of the Snows above the village has a simple façade with a tympanum and an Aquileian bell tower. It was originally the chapel of the Counts of Troil, who had a small mansion here. The story of the pregnant countess who was appalled by a cripple, and later gave birth to a cripple herself, is linked to the church.
