Kožbana

Kožbana is the largest town in the Kožbanski kot, the westernmost part of Brda, which used to be the most economically connected to Krmin and Čedad. The people here made their living mainly from timber, cattle breeding and chestnuts. The Gothic church of St George, which was enlarged in the 19th century and the interior Baroque-style, stands in the centre of the vilalge. Its right altar belongs to the group of so-called golden altars and was built in 1687. According to folklore, an older chapel is said to have stood on the site of today's church, which is said to have been the first church in Brda.
