Kozana

Kozana is also a picturesque Brda village. It is located on the road between Šmartno and Vipolže, surrounded by numerous vineyards and orchards, where sweet grapes and various types of extremely tasty fruit ripen. It is no coincidence that, even before the First World War, the Kozana women were already selling fruit in the towns and resorts of Austria, and their husbands were sending them fruit daily by train from Gorizia.

The people of Kozana are also very proud of their Church of St Hieronymus with a bell tower, whose renovation draft was constributed by architect Jože Plečnik. The current final part of the bell tower, in the form of a temple separated from the church, was raised according to Plečnik's plan in 1956.
