Gradno
Gradno, which probably takes its name from the Gradno oak, one of the most common trees in Brda, will enchant you with its many attractions. There is the interesting church of St. George, where the Stations of the Cross were painted by the world-famous painter Zoran Mušič, and part of the painting is by the painter and graphic artist Lojze Spacal.
On the church walls is a memorial plaque to the priest, national awakener, publicist and schoolmaster Andrej Žnidarčič, who worked to curb the penetration of the Italian spirit organised in the Legia Nazionale and who served in Gradno for 28 years. In the town you can see two beautiful examples of the restored so-called dry-stone wall made of sandstone. Such walls are a rarity in Brda. One of them is surmounted by the oldest olive grove in Brda.
